Configuration overview

This section explains how to adapt your back-office to your business. There are two complementary ways to configure Adminmate:

  • In the Dashboard, without code: visible fields, item overview, dashboards, environments, teams and permissions.
  • In the Data API, with code: the models you expose, segments, custom actions, custom charts, options and security settings.

We assume you have installed the Data API. If you used the CLI, your project looks like this:

.env
server.js
database.js
config/
adminmate.js
models/
users.js
orders.js
...

The files you will work with are:

File Content
database.js The connection to your database.
models/ Your Sequelize or Mongoose models: one file per table or collection. See Models.
config/adminmate.js The Adminmate configuration: models, segments, actions, charts, security. See Adminmate.js.

If you added Adminmate to an existing Express app, the configuration is the object you pass to Adminmate.init(), and your models stay where they are.
